……as 20 graduate in entrepreneurship

The youth of Mbabane have been urged to take good decisions as these decisions contribute to who they become in future. This was said by the JA Executive Director Phetsile Masilela during the graduation ceremony of 20 youth who have undergone the JA Entrepreneurship Program which runs for 9 months.

Masilela said the 2023 group of young people trained showed a lot of resilience and encouraged them to continue being resilient as this was a good trait for every entrepreneur, sighting that over and above resilience the youth showed how customer oriented they were, a recommended trait in an entrepreneur.

“I would like to appreciate Mababane Municipality for the continued partnership which does not only involve the out of school youth, but also embraces schools within the Mbabane precinct who are part of all JA programs offered at school level,” she said. She encouraged the council to reflect on the numbers already trained and see if these businesses were adding value to the city and help them solve any challenge they face in running their businesses effectively.

She further urged the council to ensure that the businesses being started by the trained youth have good and sustainable markets for their products. She said this would ensure sustenance and continuation of the program as more youth will be drawn by the success of those who have already started.

The council awards the top three of the trained youth, where the 1st prize went to Fresh Bubbles A laundry service in Msunduza, 2nd prize going to Gcina Mdumiseni Dlamin who is in Agriculture and breeds rabbits and 3rd prize went o Tiphiwe Sweet Treats which produces sweets locally.

Also in attendance was the Acting CEO Bongani Dlamini and Mayor of Mbabane Vusi Tembe. Addressing the graduating youth Dlamini expressed his appreciation of the different business ideas displayed by the youth saying these gave hope that the future was indeed in good hands. Dlamini further urged the youth to be selfless and share opportunities as this would help them grow and achieve more.

The Mayor who was having the first experience of what the trainings were about, assured the youth that he would be visiting them on sight to ascertain if indeed the businesses were run efficiently. He further offered business advise at any time, encouraging the youth to utilize the tendering processes done by both government and the private sector to get more business. He assured them that the council will consider their tenders where applicable.

The youth was further encouraged to explore other financiers to enhance their business growth.
